The 316L produces concave beads with fine ripples, and the resultant slag is essentially self-cleaning. It is suitable for welding with types 304, 304L, 308 and 308L. The combination of excellent wetting action and fine ripples minimizes crevice corrosion. The low carbon content helps to prevent carbide precipitation.
